It’s a No Brainer: Using Design Strategies to Enhance Student Mental Health
The U.S. Surgeon General recently described young people’s declining mental health as a national crisis. Besides the acute learning disruptions caused by the pandemic, students have experienced trauma associated with social isolation, illness, loss of loved ones, political unrest, social transformations and recently, even war. School leaders across the world are looking for ways to support the well-being of their students. Using case studies to exemplify concepts and facilitate discussion, this interactive session will focus on how school planning and design strategies relating to choice, engagement, belonging, experiential learning and environmental stewardship can be powerful tools in enhancing mental wellness.
