Flipping the Classroom: Reimagining Teaching and Learning for 21st Century Learners

  • Description: A thought-provoking discussion on how School District 81 broke the mold of conventional teaching and learning to design a bold 21st Century school that engages learners through child-centered teaching and play-based learning. This session will inspire educators and designers to create learning environments that encourage innovation, collaboration and critical thinking by using light, color, shapes, and space. Members of the District 81 leadership team and DLA Architects, will take participants through the process, beginning with attendance at Harvard University’s Learning Environments for Tomorrow symposium, to the completion of a progressive elementary school, where classrooms are flipped and school is reimagined.
