Student Engagement and the Creation of Student-Centered Space

  • Description: How do we make school more engaging for students? How can we create environments where students want to be? We believe the answer lies in active listening and engaging students in the design process in meaningful ways.

Members of the Oregon City School District design team will share how they approached student engagement in the design of two recent middle school projects to create student-centered environments. They will discuss the strategies they used to sustain student engagement throughout the design process, how they positioned students to contribute in significant ways, and how they leveraged student insight in the completed schools.
