Healthy School Design Elements and Maintenance Practices
The Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) was established in 1978 as the only schools organization in California focused upon the goals of financing, planning, designing, building and maintenance of K-12 schools. At this session CASH will provide an architect's, facility planner's and maintenance practitioner's approach to collaboration in school design or redesign for the purpose of establishing and maintaining healthy classrooms and schools with a focus on student wellness and learning informed by studies conducted by the University of California, Davis, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the University of Oregon.

Inform attendees of the existence and work of the Coalition for Adequate School Housing.
Learning Objective 2:
Identify research on healthy learning environments upon which to base the designing, redesigning and planned maintenance of K-12 schools.

Share specific research findings on a well designed and properly maintained school environments that contribute to students wellness and learning.
Learning Objective 4:
Link initial school design and consistent priority for planned maintenance to local budgeting processes to student wellbeing and learning.
