Nature is Necessary: A Case for Outdoor Learning Environments

  • Description: Children today spend up to 44 hours a week in front of a screen and less than 10 minutes a day playing outdoors. Following a year of virtual learning for most of the world’s students, these statistics are only exacerbated. The session will explore the importance of bringing the classroom outside and explore the benefits of outdoor learning environments for students, staff, and the environment. Case studies will be presented to display different types of outdoor learning environments showing that what is healthy for students is also beneficial to the environment.
