Culturally Responsive Design Solutions
As a team of educators and designers, how do we develop “Culturally Responsive Architectural Design Solutions” that reflect the community and the culture that our facilities serve? We have achieved this functionally and aesthetically by developing spaces that serve as “safe havens” for teaching, learning, and creating. Equally important is how a facility's color integration, architectural finish application, sculptural relief, and graphic integration provide its users with a sense of safety and pride. A sensitivity to the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is paramount in understanding how the built environment can make a true change in peoples’ lives.
